March 2008 - Grand Union Housing Group is launched
We are delighted to announce the formation of Grand Union Housing Group, which started operating on Monday 17 March 2008, when the transfer of 2,900 homes from South Northamptonshire Council to South Northants Homes completed. The new group structure comprises: Aragon Housing Association, MacIntyre Housing Association and the newly formed South Northants Homes.

February 2008 - Aragon selects Cadcorp SIS to replace existing GIS facilities
Digital mapping and geographic information systems (GIS) software developer, Cadcorp, has announced that Aragon Housing Association has recently awarded it a contract for the supply and implementation of multiple licences of Cadcorp SIS – Spatial Information System software. The new software replaces Aragon Housing Association’s existing GIS facilities from another vendor.

February 2008 - Aragon retirement scheme installs new heating
Aragon Housing Association’s residents at a sheltered housing scheme in Woburn Sands, Bedfordshire are benefiting from a sophisticated new gas heating installation.

January 2008 - Aragon’s Telecare Service to broadcast on BBC Radio 4
The Telecare Service provided by Aragon Housing Association, in partnership with Bedfordshire County Council, will be featured on the BBC Radio 4 consumer affairs programme ‘You and Yours’, which is due to be broadcast on Wednesday 30 January 2008 at 12:04pm.

January 2008 - Aragon tenants enjoy programme of seasonal events
Aragon Housing Association organised a full programme of events for tenants over the Christmas season. The involved tenants’ party was held on 5 December 2007, where over 100 involved tenants enjoyed a ‘Totally Tropical’ themed evening.

January 2008 - Date is set for Engayne Area Consultation day
On Saturday 19 January 2008, between 11am and 3pm in Sandy Village Hall, Aragon Housing Association, in partnership with Bedfordshire Police, Mid Beds District Council and Sandy Town Council, is hosting an Engayne Area Review (EAR) Consultation Day to gather the views of local residents about future improvements to this area.

December 2007 - Aragon installs 1000th heating system
Bedfordshire-based Aragon Housing Association, in partnership with Rule and Parker heating engineers, decided to mark the milestone of the partnership’s one thousandth heating system installation by a presentation to the customer of that system. As the landmark was achieved close to Christmas, a seasonal hamper was seen as an appropriate and potentially useful contribution, and so a food basket was presented to Mrs K Butler of Henlow, Mid Beds on Thursday 20 December.

December 2007 - Aragon organises Sikh temple visit for tenants
Bedfordshire-based Aragon Housing Association arranged for a group of tenants to visit the Guru Nanak Gurdwara, the new Sikh temple in Bedford as part of our ongoing customer training programme. The group was given a guided tour of the Gurdwara by General Secretary, Mr Grewal, and committed member, Mr Norman, who also talked about the Sikh faith and the Gurdwara, and answered tenants’ questions.

December 2007 - Aragon recreates Victorian splendour in Rushden
Bedfordshire-based Aragon Housing Association is developing 17 Victorian-style conversion apartments on a part-buy, part-rent basis within the former Rilton Hotel building in Rushden, East Northamptonshire. We are also building 22 homes for rent in the grounds of the former hotel.

November 2007 - Aragon and partners host Festival for Older People
Aragon Housing Association, in partnership with Bedfordshire County Council, Mid Beds District Council and Age Concern, hosted a ‘Festival for Older People’ at The Weatherly Centre in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire on Tuesday 6 November 2007. Over 200 people from across Mid Bedfordshire attended the event.

October 2007 - Local businesses support tenants’ gardening competition
Aragon Housing Association held its Annual Gardening Competition presentation at Langford Garden Centre on Thursday 25 September 2007.

September 2007 - Putting more choice into social housing - Bedfordshire plans launch of choice based lettings scheme
A new way of allocating social housing is being planned by Bedfordshire’s social housing providers. Choice Based Lettings (CBL) looks more like an estate agent’s list than a housing waiting list, providing much more information about vacant properties and offering residents greater choice in where they live.

September 2007 - City living in Milton Keynes is available now
Bedfordshire-based Aragon Housing Association is providing 15 stylish one and two bedroom apartments on a part buy, part rent basis in the Theatre District, Milton Keynes. The apartments are available now from as low as £52,500 for a 35% share.

July 2007 - Tenants back council’s housing transfer
South Northamptonshire Council’s proposal to transfer its housing to the newly-formed South Northants Homes, in a new group with Aragon and MacIntyre housing associations, has received the go ahead from tenants in a ballot following a major consultation exercise.

July 2007 - Aragon receives top marks from Housing Corporation
Aragon has received top marks from the Housing Corporation following an assessment of the Association completed last month. The Housing Corporation is the government body responsible for regulating the work of all housing associations in England.

June 2007 - Aragon proves that you are never too old to party!
Aragon Housing Association’s retirement scheme in Woburn Sands celebrated summer with a fun day on Saturday 30 June 2007.

June 2007 - Aragon’s Staff Conference 2007 – did they have news for us!
Aragon Housing Association’s Staff Conference is our annual opportunity to outline to all staff our achievements over the past year and to inform them of corporate objectives for the year ahead. It is also an opportunity for all staff to meet up in a more relaxed setting and to have some fun.

June 2007 - Aragon launches scheme to reduce number of people living in temporary accommodation
Bedfordshire-based Aragon Housing Association, in partnership with Mid Beds District Council (MBDC), has launched a Rent Deposit Scheme to enable households that might otherwise have to stay in temporary accommodation to live in the private rental sector.

June 2007 - Aragon’s Youth Panel wins award at Shefford Gala
Aragon Housing Association’s Youth Panel - AIR - took part in the Annual Shefford Gala float parade on Sunday 3 June 2007. AIR won an award for their float and were presented with a cash prize and certificate from BBC ‘Songs of Praise’ presenter Pam Rhodes and the Mayor of Shefford, Councillor Paul FJ Mackin.

May 2007 - Aragon provides stylish living in Milton Keynes, 24/7
Bedfordshire-based Aragon Housing Association is providing 15 stylish one and two bedroom apartments on a part buy, part rent basis in the Theatre District of Milton Keynes. The apartments, which are being marketed under the umbrella of ‘Twentyfour7’, are a striking development in the heart of the city.

May 2007 - EDGING Forward to a third successful year
EDGE Forward, the east of England staff mentoring programme which helps people working in the housing sector develop their career, celebrated its second successful year at Chilford Hall, Linton on 24th May. The event also served to launch the programme for its third year.
