Aragon Housing Association has successfully won a grant which will help them bring cheaper energy supplies to some of their customers.
The Bedfordshire-based housing association has secured the £26,000 grant to install over 30 air source heat pumps.
Aragon was one of only 34 social landlords who were selected out of a 125 across the country for the Renewable Heating Premium Payment (RHPP).
Barry Gissing, Aragon’s Property Manager, said: “This is excellent news as it fits in very well with Aragon’s continued efforts to do whatever we can to help our customers reduce their energy bills.
“We would encourage the Government to do even more to make it more viable for housing associations to install green technologies to reduce CO2 and bring down tenants’ bills.”
The grant funding will go towards the installation of 31 air source heat pumps – some of which have solar thermal hot water – which will help to lower tenants’ energy bills.
The RHPP is a one-off government initiative that is being administered by the Energy Saving Trust to help kick start the use of low-carbon technologies ahead of the long-awaited Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
