Aragon Open Day attracts record numbers
Bedfordshire based Aragon Housing Association celebrated a record turn-out at its bi-annual family Open Day on Saturday.
The Open Day staged at Flitwick Leisure Centre is the highlight on Aragon’s customer participation calendar and attracted over 900 visitors for a day of free fun.
It also featured Aragon’s sister association MacIntyre Housing Association which specialises in providing homes for those with learning disabilities.
Aragon’s Head of Customer Services and Resident Involvement Steve Hill said: “We had over 900 requests for tickets plus many more turning up on the day. This included over 200 tickets for MacIntyre and 150 members of staff and the families showing their support. The weather was very kind to us albeit a little windy a times... and everyone had a great time.”
Highlights included a 1960s US Skyliner classic car, barbecue, small animal road show, a display by the Raptor birds of prey centre and free swimming for Aragon customers and their families.
Visitors also enjoyed dance displays from line-dancers, the Wingfield Stompers, and Second to None, a Sandy-based street dancing troupe.
Aragaon tenants and their families were able to take part in a range of activities and quizzes organised by various departments within the housing association, with several winning prize vouchers.
For the sporty there was a display of Thai kick-boxing and for the musical karaoke was a popular choice throughout the afternoon
