Quince Court is an extra care schemeconsists of 30 flats. There is a communal lounge, kitchen and toilets. There is also a laundry room, an assisted bathroom and a guest room available. We have a large sun lounge on the first floor which is a popular seating area in both summer and winter. Quince Court has a lovely big garden with a pond containing goldfish and small carp. In summer we have a large gazebo and some of our tenants love to sit outside.
Quince Court had a major refurbishment which was completed in the summer of 2014.
The Sun Room has been improved and is now a bright modern space with wood effect flooring and comfy seating for tenants and their families to sit and relax. It is hoped that there will be visiting therapists offering in the future. There are plans to have a beautician visit once a month so the tenants can spoil themselves.
Within the main reception area, there is a cafe called "Comfort Cafe" which is open to the tenants and their families seven days a week and open to the general public on Wednesdays and Thursdays 11am to 2.30pm offering light lunches, tea and cakes and afternoon coffee. All proceeds goes towards the Quince Court tenants funds.
Tenants are encouraged to organise and join in social activities, some of which include:
The communal lounge is available to all tenants to hire for parties, anniversaries and other social events. Tenants who are keen gardeners are welcome to help with the gardening.
Quince Court is situated in a market town so there is plenty going on in both the town and Quince Court. There is a bus stop near to Quince Court with regular buses to the town centre, Biggleswade, Bedford and Hitchin. Sandy also has a mainline train station with links to London Kings Cross and Peterborough. Many of our tenants enjoy the travelling library which calls once a fortnight.
Quince Court is an extra care retirement housing scheme and is supported by a team of Carewatch East Services carers, who are based at the scheme. All of the flats are fitted with an emergency alarm system which is tested regularly. The Home Support Officer will contact you to let you know how we can help.
The Home Support Officer and the Carewatch team work together to bring that extra level of care but at the same time allowing you to enjoy your independence. The care team are at the scheme 24 hours a day.
