Quince Court consists of 29 flats. There is a communal lounge, kitchen and toilets. There is also a laundry room, an assisted bathroom and a guest room available. We have a large conservatory on the first floor which is a popular seating area in both summer and winter. Quince Court has a lovely big garden with a pond containing goldfish and small carp. In summer we have a large gazebo and some of our tenants love to sit outside.
Tenants are encouraged to organise and join in social activities, some of which include:
The communal lounge is available to all tenants to hire for parties, anniversaries and other social events. Tenants who are keen gardeners are welcome to help with the gardening.
Quince Court is situated in a market town so there is plenty going on in both the town and Quince Court. There is a bus stop near to Quince Court with regular buses to the town centre, Biggleswade, Bedford and Hitchin. Sandy also has a mainline train station with links to London Kings Cross and Peterborough. Many of our tenants enjoy the travelling library which calls once a fortnight.
Quince Court is an extra care retirement housing scheme and is supported by a team of Social Services carers, who are based at the scheme. All of our flats are fitted with emergency alarm systems which are tested regularly. The Home Support Officer will contact you to let you know how we can help.
There is also a support worker available on site, working in a tenant support role to promote independence. They work together with the Home Support Officer to bring that extra level of care but at the same time allowing you to enjoy your independence. The care team are at the scheme 24 hours a day.
