Specialist day centres are a joint initiative between Central Bedfordshire Council and Aragon Housing Association and take place in the friendly and comfortable communal lounges of our retirement housing schemes.
They're designed to offer local and accessible day care to those in need of activity and social inclusion and to support and involve their carers or advocates.
The people who attend are encouraged to join in and participate with activities such as games, quizzes, crafts, armchair exercises and group discussions.
However, everybody is treated as an individual and their needs and wishes will be considered.
The projects run from 10am to 3pm.
There is currently no charge for the service, but there is a small charge for lunch and refreshments.
Anyone who lives within a few miles of the scheme, or has been assessed by a social worker as being in need of a day centre, is welcome to come along.
Some of the people who attend may have memory problems, Parkinson’s or may have suffered a stroke.
Referrals can be made by a home support officer, carer or a professional.
Anyone who lives in the scheme is also welcome to join in.
We currently run four day centre projects at :
Southfields, Shefford on Mondays (not Bank Holidays)
Hutton Court, Woburn Sands (Tuesdays)
Beverley Court, Clophill (Thursdays)
Orchard House, Harlington (Fridays)
